The 7 Daily Prompts

Each day focuses on a different aspect of your development.

1Day 1: What Went Well

After your next session, write down three things that went well. Be specific. Not just 'I played well' but exactly what you did.

Why this matters: Starting with what went well builds a habit of noticing positives. Most players only remember what went wrong.

2Day 2: What Was Tough

Write about a moment where you struggled today. What happened? Why was it difficult? What would you do differently?

Why this matters: Acknowledging difficulty is not weakness. It is the first step towards fixing it.

3Day 3: Energy and Mood

Rate your energy before and after your session. How did your mood affect your performance? Did you notice a connection?

Why this matters: Understanding your energy patterns helps you prepare better for sessions and matches.

4Day 4: Feedback You Received

What did your coach or teammates say to you today? Write down the most important piece of feedback. Did you act on it?

Why this matters: Capturing feedback in writing makes you more likely to use it. Otherwise it fades by the next session.

5Day 5: A Specific Skill

Pick one specific skill you worked on today. How is it compared to a month ago? Where do you still need to improve?

Why this matters: Tracking specific skills over time shows you progress that is invisible day to day.

6Day 6: Pressure and Decisions

Think about a decision you made under pressure this week. Was it the right call? What influenced your thinking?

Why this matters: Decision-making under pressure improves when you reflect on it deliberately.

7Day 7: Your Week in Review

Look back at your six previous reflections. What patterns do you see? What theme keeps coming up? What are you going to focus on next week?

Why this matters: This is where the real insight happens. Patterns across a week tell you things that no single session can.

Why 7 Days?

Research into habit formation consistently shows that the first week is the critical window. If you can reflect daily for seven consecutive days, you are far more likely to continue.

The challenge gives you structure during that first week. Instead of staring at a blank page and wondering what to write, you get a specific focus each day. By day seven, you know what works for you and reflection feels natural.

Doing it with friends adds accountability. When you can see that three of your teammates have already reflected today, you are more likely to do yours.

The 7-Day Reflection Challenge is a structured programme where young athletes reflect on their training and matches for seven consecutive days. Each day has a different focus, from what went well to handling pressure. You can do it alone or invite friends to join and track progress together.

Do I need to pay to take the challenge?

No. The challenge is completely free. PlayReflect is free for every player with no limits on reflections, AI insights, or features. You just need to sign up for a free account to track your progress.

Can I invite my teammates to join?

Yes. You can create a challenge, share the unique link with up to 20 friends, and track progress together on a shared leaderboard. The player who completes all seven days with the most detailed reflections leads the board.

What happens after the 7 days?

If you complete all seven days, you earn the Challenge Champion badge. More importantly, you will have built the habit of reflecting after sessions. Most players who complete the challenge continue reflecting because they have seen the value first-hand.
